Author Coaching
An author coach isn’t something most writers think about, but having someone to talk with, be encouraged by, and ask questions of can be your greatest asset as a writer.
What does an author coach do?
Being an author is a very solitary job with highs and lows, and any number of personal and professional things that may occur. You may have writer's block or struggle to even show up and write. As your coach, I will help you through your blocks, offer advice and a safe place to talk through what’s blocking you, while providing accountability to hit your writing goals.
As an author, it is good to talk about your current work; it helps you develop the story. Sometimes writing can bring up emotions you aren’t expecting, and non-writers rarely understand why writing a novel can bring such an emotional reaction. As a fellow author, I understand the struggle and offer the support needed.
Accountability is the hardest part of any type of solo work, and as a coach, I will also keep you accountable. There is a reason people hire personal trainers for their fitness goals. You can easily learn exercises from a book or video and download an app to track your progress. But you pay the trainer to keep you accountable, to make sure you show up every day until it is an ingrained habit. This is what I do as your coach. And you will see an increase in your productivity.
What do you get from your coach?
A 30 minute video call every week where we discuss your progress, future goals, hurdles that may have arisen, or whatever else is valid for you at that moment.
A text message line for any small things that arise, and for me to send encouragement and to check-in.
Most importantly. I will adapt every meeting and check-in to suit your specific needs. Rather that is talking through storylines, or writing prompts. I will keep you on the author's path of writing a novel.
Is a coach right for you?
It doesn’t matter if you are a new author working on your first novel, or a well-established author. Having someone in your corner as you work will be your greatest tool as an author.
